Should GMO food be restricted to be produced or sold? This is an advocacy project for my Language Art class! I said GMO food should be restricted to be produced or sold because it is harmful to health, the economy, the environment. It has potential to damage human health because it can cause allergic reactions and increase plants' toxicity. In addition to its harmful health effects, it can also harm the environment because its nature of increasing toxicity reduces habitants and damage their health. Its toxicity also cause water pollution. Lastly, its mass-producing nature can cause monopolies, causing other healthy food to disappear from the markets.
If you agree with my view point, can you say agree or yes to the answers? Thank you so much for reading this..!

No. Monitored, yes - but virtually everything we eat has been genetically modified, whether explicitly or by cross-breeding and selective breeding to give higher production and pest resistance.

eg. This is wheat as it was a couple of thousand years ago; not much different from any other wild grass:

And this is the current version, with vastly more actual grains per head (purely through selective breeding):

The real hazards are toxic foods that have bypassed the food safety regulations as they were already in use when the laws came in; soy is probably one of the worst, it contains toxins and hormones that can be extremely damaging to people..

[Soy was originally grown in Asia as a pesticide & was only considered fit for consumption after fermenting for many months to eliminate the toxins.]

It should be labeled, it should be a consumer choice

You might want to do some real research to back up what you suggest. A lot of what you allege is simply not the case.

You have zero proof for any of your points. There is absolutely no proof it is harmful to health. It isn't harmful to the economy, either. GMOs saved the papaya industry in Hawaii.
