Why does garbage collection have to start so early in the morning?

I live in "bear country". Yet garbage collection starts at 6:30 am, and is finished by 2:30 pm. Soooooo people leave their garbage out over night, and then the bears come out in the night to get into the left-out garbage, and then they become a problem and have to be shot.

Is there any reason why garbage collection couldn't start later (ie. 9:00 am and finish at 5:00 pm), so that most people could simply put it out when they leave for work/school in the morning? Or is there some special reason why the last neighbourhoods HAVE to be picked up before a certain time?

Get a summertime job hauling garbage. Enjoy the smell as the garbage sits out in the heat. It gets ripe enough by 2:30 PM.

Is there any reason you cant get your lazy ars up and put your garbage out in the morning! Ooooh 6:30 wow thats sooo early. If you had a real job you would already be on the way to work!



Less bears will be destroyed by lazy people getting up at 6:30 and putting their garbage out!

I can think of a lot of smart-mouth questions, but the real answer is because the garbage trucks have to haul their load to a land-fill and they have to be there before 5:00 to empty their load, therefore, they have to be out of your neighborhood by 2:30 which means they must start at 6:30.

I disagree with all the people who says 6.5AM isn't early. A lot of people start work at 9. Unless you drive two hours to work, I don't see why'd you have to get up at 5AM. To answer your question, try contacting the garbage agency and ask them. Maybe they never thought of the bear side effect.

your neighbors need to stop being lazy and put the trash out i the morning. 630 am is not early.

As others stated, regular trash needs to be at the dump by a certian time. Hazardous materials, lead, and asbestos trash are usually taken to the dump during the evening hours

they are probably on some sort of schedule. the garbage people by me come around that time too. but i understand why you would be upset.
