I think we all know the answer to that, but maybe I can help illustrate it for you with some pretty maps and reports. If you go to one of EPA's 3 major search engines at http://www.epa.gov/epahome/commsearch.htm and type in your ZIP code, you can look at lists of different hazards in Envirofacts, a map with colored dots indicating each threat or actual pollution source (for example, underground gasoline tanks are a different color than *leaking* underground gasoline tanks), or you can 'Surf Your Watershed' by getting reports of water pollution issues for any watershed that intersects with your ZIP code.

Basically, if people live there, there will be pollution so to answer your first, most basic question: Yes, there is pollution in Atlanta.
Try searching the internet for different forms of pollution in addition to just air and water (i.e. noise, heat etc.)

Roswell, Ga. is not far from Atlanta and there is a lake there polluted with snakes!!! And it has no frogs which, I believe, is an indication of a healthy ecological system.
