What do YOU think of global warming?

It is not something that you may or may not belive in - but, it is something that you will eventually not be able to ignore.
Given the chance, would you push the entire planet away from nuclear and carbon emissions and lead it towards the power of fusion, solar energy, wind farms and bioelectricity?
Would you stop the production of incandescent lamps, gas-burning engines,- oil refineries, drilling rigs and coal mines?
Would you make a push for the revolution of electrical engines, LEDs and CFLs?
You must realize that the reality of global warming is something that we have the solution to but really are just too lazy and dependent to care.

I'm an American deeply disappointed in George Bush on a variety of issues, but when he declared global warming is a scientific concept and his advisers backed him, I knew our country was being led by a total idiot and his playmates.



Back in the 70's I had the A/C unit removed from my car -- a sacrifice, I live in Florida -- to help stop FCs contaminating the atmosphere and harming birds and wildlife. I make the common-sense choices to help lessen my contributions to global warming.



I am afraid of global warming and the way it is accelerating faster than predicted. It is frightening that something we do has negative impact on Iceland and the Poles, that we are directly contributing to the drowning of polar bears and deaths of penguins and seals with our insistence on clinging to fossil fuels and our way of life, expecting everyone else to make sacrifices.



We may have solutions to global warming, but it seems a committed few are willing to embrace them. Months ago I was stuck behind an SUV with a W bumpersticker, and another that read, "Stop Global Whining." The only reason I didn't ram that sorry jackal is because I couldn't afford to repair my car.



I read recently that scientist are considering deliberately releasing air pollution high into the stratosphere as a temporary protection for Earth, to buy time for our slower solutions to work and to prevent Arctic ice from melting further. I think it will take something that extreme to not only buy us the time we need, but to impress more people that everyone in an industrialized society is contributing to global warming, and everyone has to make sacrifices to save our planet, not just the "Greenies" and a handful of Democrats in the US, and all the other countries while USA remains the worst offender, and will -- for the next two years.

Bill P is right on the money here. I choose to ignore it now because there aren't enough hard facts to prove that it exists.



Fact 1: The Earth had a declining average temperature from 1940 to 1972 despite ever-increasing CO2 levels, the gas that alarmists champion as the best indicator of global warming.



Fact 2: Antarctica contains 90% of ice on the planet Earth and has been cooling since 1980 and growing in ice mass.



Fact 3: American mean temperatures are only about one third of a degree celsius warmer now than they were in the late 19th century.The highest mean temperature occurs in 1934.



Fact 4: The earth is cooler today than it was during the last four interglacials.



The Earth has been around for millions of years and has seen climate changes throughout it's history. What humans are doing is insignificant to the climate.



What WILL cause more problems is the rise of solar and wind power; do you have any idea how many windmills and solar panels we would have to put up to replicate the amount of energy we use today? Doing so would tear down so many forests and displace so many animals that it would be completely counterproductive to solving any crises involving climate or ecosystems.

Great question. I am all for production of power which causes minimal impact to our precious environment. Windfarms however have their drawbacks by spoiling lovely green belt areas and they are expensive and don't give a significant power output overall. Solar panels are also very very expensive. The human race will always produce vast amounts of waste products and have an insatiable appetite for cost efficient energy which is why nuclear power is our only option. A lot has been learned about how to prevent radioactive pollution since we first used started using nuclear power.The modern power stations are more efficient and better/safely designed too.I think all the waste produced could be safely stored on our various military sites around The UK which will provide good security. It is the only solution short term anyway. We are running short of gas and we are at the END of the gas supply pipeline and will be held to ransom in the coming years as our reserves dwindle and die. We have to build nuclear plants now alongside cleaner energy production otherwise our comfortable lifestyles will soon change to harsher ones.Our economy will grind to a halt and all at a time when scientists believe that we will lose the Gulf stream which will tip us into an Icelandic climate all within the next 50 years or so. Come on Mr Blair do something.......

Very literally and scientifically, "global warming" is simply a "fallacy". Just follow the money as the push gets underway and you'll see exactly what I mean.



Example: Remember the "ozone hole" scare? We were told it was due to chlorofluorocarbons (CFC's) in our spray cans and automobile air conditioning systems. The amount of CFC's released in this manner was INFINITESIMALLY SMALLER than a proverbial "spit in the ocean". Volcanoes emit gases far more harmful to the ozone layer than any manmade gas and there are quite literally thousands of volcanic eruptions on the earth each and every year. However, the "fear mongers", also known as the moneymakers, developed whole new industries by using this "CFC scare tactic". The ozone layer has been expanding and contracting quite naturally, all on its own, since the beginning of time and will continue to do so until the end of time. Mother Nature's best quality is being able to take care of herself. And she will continue to do so ... no amount of manmade carbon or other "emissions" can upset her balance.

Global warming is a huge threat and its coming closer. I think we should do everything to help stop it, drive hybrids, buy locally grown foods whatever it takes! CO2 goes up, acid rain comes down. If the people in charge can't fix this and lie that global warming is a just an idea, people have to stop the problem. The coldest place on the planet has already started melting, we're in trouble so the top contributor to this problem, the U.S., has to do something, and some are trying, so go green!

YES i would stop the making of fossil fuels and the making of cars,aerosol sprays,gas burning and other armful things because GLOBAL WARMING is not heating of the atmosphere it is much worst it is.
